WELLNESS & PREVENTIVE CARE
Veterinary ServicesAt South County Veterinary Hospital, we believe annual wellness care is imperative to keeping your pet happy and healthy!
SCVH WELLNESS & PREVENTIVE CARE
Your pet’s health is important and preventive care is necessary. We recommend wellness exams, keeping your pets on a vaccination schedule, and working with us on all facets of wellness care.
Yearly Check-ups
Complete physical examinations, appropriate vaccinations, and laboratory testing allow us to maintain a comprehensive medical history of your pet. During your annual physical exam, your veterinarian fully examines your pet and discuss vaccinations and ongoing wellness. Just like you do wellness visits with your doctor, it’s important that your pet does the same. During these visits, our team will spend time examining your pet from nose to tail.
Sick Pet Care
Sick animal exams are needed whenever an unexpected illness or problem arises. If you feel like your pet is not acting like itself, our team is always happy to help. We will ask pertinent questions about the problem and thoroughly examine your pet. After an exam, we can then discuss recommendations and options for diagnostic testing and treatment to devise a plan of action that works best for you and your pet.
Dermatology
There are many different ailments that can affect a companion animal’s skin. Whether it’s a topical problem, like a hot spot or rash, or something more in-depth like an infection, the symptoms can be unpleasant. You don’t want to see your best friend suffer like that, and neither do we! That’s why South County Veterinary Hospital offers professional pet allergy and dermatology services as part of our comprehensive system of care. We want to help get your loved one as healthy on the outside as on the inside.
Vaccinations
Our staff administers routine vaccinations necessary to prevent infectious diseases. We understand that your pet is unique and that no single vaccine program will be ideal for every pet in every situation. Our doctors and other staff members are well-educated about veterinary vaccines, and our goal is to give you the best advice for keeping your pet healthy. Let us develop a vaccination schedule and ongoing booster routine that accounts for your pet’s lifestyle, overall health, the risk for exposure to infectious disease, and other factors.
Ophthalmology
Just like people, animals can also suffer from eye complications that affect their day-to-day life. These conditions can include cataracts, glaucoma, uveitis, tumors of the eye, eyelid defects, dry eye, retinal degeneration, and corneal ulcers. Our veterinary ophthalmologist here at South County Veterinary Hospital can provide pets with nearly all of the medical and surgical eye care that is available for humans while making sure they are comfortable and treated with the utmost care and compassion.
